Honeybush is often described as the “sister” herb to the popular rooibos, both native to South Africa’s Eastern Cape region. Its delicate flowers release a naturally sweet, honey-like aroma—giving the plant its name. When brewed, honeybush produces a smooth, mellow infusion similar to rooibos, but with a gently sweeter, rounder flavour profile.
Naturally caffeine-free and low in tannins, honeybush is a soothing choice any time of day, especially in the evening. It is also valued for its naturally occurring antioxidants and minerals such as iron, potassium, and calcium, which contribute to overall wellness, including supporting hydration balance and healthy iron levels.
This beautifully smooth herbal infusion makes an ideal nighttime tonic—comforting, calming, and naturally sweet.
Brewing Guide:
Use 1–2 teaspoons per cup. Infuse with freshly boiled water at 95–100°C for 5–7 minutes to allow the full sweetness and depth of flavour to develop. Best enjoyed without milk, although a touch of honey can enhance its naturally sweet character.
Cold Brew Guide:
Use 1–2 teaspoons per 350ml of cold water. Infuse in the refrigerator for 6–8 hours, or overnight for a naturally sweet and refreshing Cold Brew . Strain before serving over ice.
